Commonwealth 2014 Gold Medalist

Babita is the sister of India’s first gold medalist in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games, Geeta Phogat, and the daughter of wrestler and Dronacharya Award recipient Mahavir Singh Phogat. She has a cousin Vinesh Phogat who also won gold, in the 48 kg category, at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Babita is an Indian female wrestler, who won the gold medal in 2014 Commonwealth Games. She also won a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal at the 2012 World Wrestling Championships

India wrestler Babita Kumari settled for a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games after being beaten by Canada’s Diana Weicker in the 53kg Women’s freestyle Nordic final bout. This is Babita’s third CWG medal. She had won silver (51kg) in 2010 in Delhi and gold (55kg) in Glasgow 2014.

Babita failed to break through Diana’s defenses and went down 2-5 in the summit clash.
